About Me

Reza Satchu is a Canadian entrepreneur who has established a range of businesses during his career and has taught entrepreneurship courses for over 20 years. Reza’s family moved to Toronto when he was young, as part of the Canadian government's initiative to welcome Ismaili immigrants from East Africa. Settling in the suburb of Scarborough, Reza’s parents worked hard to provide for their family, with his father working as a real estate agent and his mother as a secretary.
After completing high school, Reza Satchu pursued his studies in economics at McGill University in Montreal. Reza chose to follow his passion for economics. After graduating in 1991, he worked as a financial analyst for Merrill Lynch in New York City.
This drive to innovate led Reza Satchu to enroll in Harvard Business School, where he earned his MBA in 1996. Upon graduation, he joined Fenway Partners, a private equity firm based in New York City that specializes in acquiring underperforming companies.
In 2000, at the young age of 30, Reza Satchu and his brother, Asif, alongside Jon Burgstone, sold their B2B supply chain software company, SupplierMarket.com, to SAP Ariba for $925 million. This success led to the co-founding of StorageNow, a consumer storage facility chain that became Canada's second-largest storage company. The company was sold in 2007 for a reported $110 million.
Reza Satchu co-founded KGS Alpha Capital Markets in 2010, a fixed-income broker-dealer specializing in U.S. mortgage-backed and asset-backed securities. The company was later sold to the Bank of Montreal for $400 million.
In 2010, Reza founded NEXT 36, an organization dedicated to helping entrepreneurial students develop their ideas and launch new businesses. The program offers an eight-month program at the University of Toronto, where students can learn from guest speakers and mentors.
In 2014, Reza Satchu founded Alignvest Management Corporation, a private investment firm where he currently serves as Managing Partner. He continues to be an active member of the Canadian business community, supporting young entrepreneurs and encouraging innovation.
